OC United’s THRIVE Program Offers Hope, Home and Community to Young Adults Formerly in Care

Young adults exiting the foster care system are often completely on their own. They experience barriers to housing, education, financial security and mental health resources. OC United’s THRIVE (Transitional Home Recognizing Independence, Value and Empowerment) program provides personalized services and resources to promote healthy development and to give each young adult a sense of community through restorative relationships. Residents are partnered with support advocates for one-on-one case management and emotional support. Additional services include:

  • Safe and Affordable Housing
  • On-Site Mentorship
  • Community Resources
  • Educational Support
  • Life-Skills Workshops
  • Financial Literacy and Budgeting
  • Career Development
  • Personal Wellness
  • Health and Nutrition

If you know of a young adult who could benefit from transitional housing and support offered through THRIVE, email thrive@ocunited.com for more information. To submit an interest form to join the program, click here.

Get Involved
Help support young adults grow towards healthy independence. Get involved through the opportunities listed below. For more information or to start volunteering/donating, email thrive@ocunited.com or visit THRIVE.

Tangible Needs
THRIVE is routinely in need of basic household items such as cleaning supplies, new linens for twin beds, new bath and hand towels, and personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, body wash and shampoo.

THRIVE Night Volunteers (currently on hold due to COVID-19)
Attend and support the twice-monthly events with eager involvement and friendly conversation with the young adults. Each event includes dinner and games or a life-skills workshop. Occasionally provide dinner and build connections with others who care.

Volunteer/In-Kind Service Support
Skilled assistance is needed with occasional projects that may involve carpentry, floor installation/repair, painting, minor construction improvements, gardening and weed abatement maintenance.

Mentorship/Job Skills/Career Development
Do you work within a specific field or have unique job skills that would be interesting to share with the career-minded young adults? Currently seeking different job/career opportunities for them to explore.
