The school year may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean learning needs to. With so many options to fit every family’s schedules and needs, summer camp is a great way to keep the learning going beyond the classroom.
Whether adventuring in the great outdoors, honing athletic skills or mastering computer coding, summer camps offer children an opportunity to develop social, emotional and cognitive skills. Best of all, children will make life-long memories and carry new skills into adulthood.
Outlined below are some benefits children may gain when experiencing camp. Information courtesy of the YMCA Gateway RegionandChildren’s Bureau.
A resource parent may apply the Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standard in determining whether to permit a child to participate in age or developmentally appropriate extracurricular, enrichment, cultural and social activities. For questions and to obtain camp referrals, please speak with the child’s assigned social worker.
