March is a time to celebrate the many essential contributions social workers at the County of Orange Social Services Agency’s (SSA) make to communities across the County. As a helping profession, social workers focus on meeting the physical and emotional well-being of children, adults and families facing crises. The amount of care, support and empathy social workers give to clients is exceptional. That level of dedication and service continues despite the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the increased responsibilities of ensuring client safety can easily lead social workers to neglect themselves. During these challenging times, it is even more important for social workers to practice self-care. SSA Children & Family Service’s social workers share how they deal with the “new normal” and simple tips for practicing self-care are outlined below.
